The relationship between marketing and sales is changing. The shift is driven by new behaviour and technology, which mean customers are doing more research on their own.

Why is Thought Leadership important right now?
Customers make most of their buying decision before they ever speak to a salesperson. They are looking for knowledge, insight and perspective, not advertising. At the same time, the volume of information has exploded, and attention is in short supply. This means companies can no longer simply communicate what they sell. They also need to demonstrate how they understand their customers’ reality and show why their perspective is worth listening to.
Thought Leadership is therefore not about visibility for visibility’s sake. It is about building credibility and relevance through clear points of view, documented knowledge and consistent communication.
Attention must be earned
You can buy attention, but trust must be earned. Especially at a time when trust has become a scarce resource. As complexity increases, decision-making processes become longer and scepticism towards traditional marketing grows, companies face a new reality: relationships and credibility are essential to creating demand and driving sales. This is exactly where Thought Leadership becomes a strategic tool, because it bridges the gap between marketing and sales.
Differentiation has become harder
We have many skilled and innovative companies that are known for what they produce. But many B2B products and services look increasingly alike: technology is easy to copy; price differences are quickly evened out and features become standardised. Thought Leadership communication is a way to differentiate through insight, perspective and point of view.
A brand with meaning
At Public, we work to move companies from being skilled players in their industry to becoming influential voices that set the agenda and become the ones people listen to. It is not about being perfect. It is about being clear, credible and willing to take part in the difficult conversations.
We help companies and organisations define a clear position in the conversation about the future: What is the company’s role? Which dilemmas can the company address? And which solutions can the company stand behind? In practice, we help turn this into visibility: strong leadership profiles, sharp opinion pieces, strategic PR. In short, a narrative that works across the company’s channels. I love my work because our clients are so innovative and deliver solutions that are often new, effective and sustainable ways of solving familiar and growing problems. They often have a business that deserves a place in the public conversation. It is therefore a great pleasure to help give such companies the influential voice they deserve.
